How to re-size the Bootcamp Partition safely and easily. I have a Macbook Air 2012 11' with 128 GB SSD, 1.9 Ghz i5 processor and 4GB RAM. I'm running the latest version of Mac OS X Mavericks. I've split my drive so that around 78 GB is for Mac OS X, and 50 GB for Windows 8 (not Windows 8.1).
In the Disk Utility app on your Mac, select a volume in the sidebar, then click the Partition button. In the pie chart, select the partition you want to delete, then click the Delete button. The partition is removed, reformatted, and all free space is assigned to the previous partition. @chuxsta - You can use Disk Utility to re-size the drive with either HFS+ or APFS! But that's not cloning! Thats just re-sizing! So you could resize the HDD so the partition is made smaller but I still don't recommend using any cloning app. Jan 31, 2019 If your Mac is using macOS Sierra or earlier, or the startup disk is formatted as Mac OS Extended instead of APFS, you can create a new partition instead. The space it occupies doesn't automatically adjust to fit your content, so you must manually size the partition. Learn how to add a volume to a device formatted as Mac OS Extended.
Disk Utility User Guide
Partitioning a disk divides it into individual sections, each of which acts as a separate volume.
However, with APFS, you shouldn’t partition your disk in most cases. Instead, create multiple APFS volumes within a single partition. With the flexible space management provided by APFS, you can even install another version of macOS on an APFS volume.
Important: If you’re partitioning your internal physical disk because you want to install Windows, use Boot Camp Assistant instead. Do not use Disk Utility to remove a partition that was created using Boot Camp Assistant. Instead, use Boot Camp Assistant to remove the partition from your Mac.
